It is that time of the year again and as in previous years the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce will be participating in the Provincial Government Pre-budget Consultation in Gander on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Hotel Gander.
Newfoundland and Labrador continues to post a positive outlook for the economy given the status of the economy throughout the remainder of Canada. To ensure our Government stays the course, the Chamber is looking to you, its members, for input to their Pre-Budget presentation.
The Chamber will continue to pursue Government’s commitment to rural areas especially as it pertains to health, education and the promotion of our area as a great place to do business.
This is your opportunity to have the Chamber speak on your behalf, as the “Voice of Business”, on any issues or concerns you would like the Government to consider in the 2012 Budget.

Youth Ventures, sponsored by the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce and in partnership with Gander Hyundai, will hold a Drive-In Movie on Wednesday, August 3rd at 9:00 pm in the Gander Tourist Information Centre Parking 109 Trans Canada Highway. The feature movie will be “Rango” which is rated PG and will be fun for the whole family.
There is no admission for this event however donations will be gratefully accepted upon entry.
All monies raised will be donated to the Cara House.

• All residents of Newfoundland and Labrador can receive access to the SmartForce NL Learning Network by going to
www.nlhrmanager.ca and have the ability to complete all of the free courses that are added to that network.
• This program is a partnership with the NL and Labrador Association of Technology Industries and Bluedrop.
• This is a two year pilot project with up to 10,000 available users.
• By the summer of 2011 there will be ten HR courses and five Social Media courses made available, free of cost, to any small or medium size business with 250 or less employees in NL and Labrador.

The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Rogers Television, will be hosting the Federal Political Forum at the Arts and Culture Centre on April 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. All four candidates representing the District of Bonavista-Gander-Exploits have been invited to participate.
Any questions the general public would like to pose to the candidates can be forwarded to the Chamber’s office on the Trans Canada Highway, faxed to 256-4794 or e-mailed to ganderchamber@ganderchamber.nf.ca. The Forum will also be carried live on Skyways.
