Eastport Peninsula

The first community you encounter on the Eastport Peninsula will be Sandringham. Just a short distance away is the community of Eastport, the hub of the peninsula. Easport and the region are famous for its beautiful sandy beaches and for this reason the area gained its name as "Road to the Beaches". While in Eastport be sure to walk along the north end of Eastport Beach to see its sand dunes, sea grasses, shore birds and the lazy lagoon. Also, visit historic Holy Cross Church; constructed in 18990, this wooden structure was built in the shape of a cross. While in the Eastport Peninsula be sure to visit St. Chad's and its picturesque harbour, Burnside with its archaeological field labratory, and the island of St. Brendan's which is a 45 minute ferry ride from Burnside.
