Gambo and Area

Gambo is the birthplace of the late Premier Joseph R. Smallwood, the last father of Confederation. The Smallwood Interpretation and Kittiwake Coast Information Centre houses wonderful exhibits portraying his life, as well as displaying many of his belongings. Located on an alternate Gateway to the Road to the Shore, the Kittiwake Coast Information Centre provides all forms of travel info on the region. "Joey's Lookout" provides a panoramic view of the town and it stretches along the banks of the Gambo River. This licensed river is dotted with glacial boulders and small islands. A scenic walking trail winds along the river to the old train trestle, a visible reminder of Gambo's association with the former railway.Camping facilities are available on Middle Brook River, a great place to have a swim.
