Continuing east from Musgrave Harbour on the Road to the Shore you will arrive at Lumsden and Deadman's Bay. These are small fishing communities where lobster, lump-fish and crab fishing rank as the chief economic engines. Windmill Bight is also on this route and it has a beautiful fresh and salwater beach. Serviced and unserviced campsites are available trhough this area. Birdwatchers will find the area around Cape Freels particularly interesting since the beaches are heavily populated with hundreds of small seabirds. At one time the Piping Plover was common here; the Beothuk Indians are also known to have inhabited this region. This unique strip of ecosystem on the tip of the coast is known as an oceanic barren.
